WHY IT MATTERS

A significant portion of the Long Branch population is experiencing rising poverty. The escalating cost of living has displaced lower-income families and hit middle-income families, leaving many reliant on support services for critical needs such as food.

In 2026 we are on target to meet or exceed our service to the community.

  • Low-income households
  • Seniors and individuals with limited mobility
  • Children and school-aged youth

HOW WE GREW IN 2025 More capacity. More awareness. More support.

Federal cuts to SNAP funding, new eligibility requirements, and the exclusion of undocumented residents left fewer St. Brigid's clients able to receive those benefits. We focused on making sure food is there for the people affected:

  • Frozen food grant

St. Brigid's received a 4Q2025 Frozen Food Reimbursement Grant from Fulfill, the Monmouth and Ocean Food Bank.

  • SNAP replacement grant

RWJ Barnabas Health selected St. Brigid's as one of eleven food pantries in New Jersey to receive a SNAP Eligibility Replacement Grant.

  • Supplemental food

The grant funds buy what clients ask for and Fulfill typically does not provide — coffee, cheese, yogurt, cooking oil, and nuts.

  • 108,326 pounds picked up

With the cargo van Fulfill awarded in 2023, we collect food weekly from Aldi, ShopRite, and Target and distribute it alongside the regular deliveries.

WHERE WE ARE GROWING IN 2026

St. Brigid's is developing and implementing strategies and plans in 2026 to further increase our food distribution capacity, raise awareness of the pantry and its mission, and generate more support.

  • Volunteers in the community garden.

    Community garden

Carol Wright at the Jacob Jones 7th Ave. Community Garden and Monmouth Medical Center / RWJ Barnabas Health built a 25' × 50' raised garden for St. Brigid's, maintained by volunteers.

  • Crates of fresh greens.

    Grow-A-Row

July through September, fresh produce from two Hunterdon County farms reaches St. Brigid's through Fulfill's program.

  • A community partner's information table.

    Local collaboration

St. Brigid's is partnering with local businesses and community organizations to raise awareness of the pantry and its mission.
